The road toward Silesia opens
4th Tank Army turned northwest while 3rd Guards Tank Army and 52nd Army pushed west beyond Chmielnik. By night the leading Soviet formations had reached the Nida. A broad corridor toward Częstochowa, Upper Silesia and the Oder was open.
